Meet Dr Barbara Perlitch
Dr. Barbara Perlitch was born in Washington DC and raised in Northern Virginia. At age 16 she went to work for her family dentist and it was then she fell in love with all things dentistry. While working as an oral surgical assistant, she also attended Old Dominion University and in 1977 received a BS in Dental Hygiene. During her initial career as a dental hygienist, she had extensive additional specialty training in Periodontics. Her need for challenge and drive for excellence continued so the obvious choice was to return to dental school. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and graduated in 1987. After graduation an opportunity arose to purchase a dental practice in Virginia Beach, Virginia where she remained until 1996. Knowing there is always more to know she attended the acclaimed and prestigious Dawson Academy where the focus is extensive training for TMJ and smile design based on function, implant design and placement, as well as cosmetic dentistry. Understanding that people have different needs and wanting to do her best for all, in 1995 she also completed additional training for the proper design, fit and function of full dentures and partial dentures. Wanting to share her knowledge, from 1990-1996 Dr. Perlitch was on Clinical Faculty at Old Dominion University School of Dental Hygiene.
In 1996 she sold her practice, moved to Santa Barbara, California, started a family, and still worked part time in a private dental practice. In 2009 she became director of the dental assisting program at United Education Institute in San Diego. She moved her practice from Sorrento Valley to Mission Valley in 2012.
Dr. Perlitch is married with one teen age son and loves gardening and all that San Diego has to offer.
